Frequently asked questions
Can I join from Lucerne instead of Zurich?
Yes. There are two ticket options — departing from Zurich or from Lucerne. Select the option that suits your itinerary when booking.
What happens if the cable car is out of service?
During scheduled maintenance periods (9 March–2 April 2026, 16–27 November 2026, and 8–31 March 2027), both the ascent and descent at Mount Rigi will be made by cogwheel train only. The experience is otherwise identical.
Is the mountain section guided or self-guided?
A professional guide accompanies the group on the coach legs. For the ascent, time on the mountain, and the boat cruise, you follow a written itinerary and pre-issued tickets independently. Your guide rejoins for the return to Zurich.
Do children need a ticket?
Children under 6 travel free of charge, but no separate seat is provided for them on the coach.
Can I cancel if my plans change?
Please check the cancellation policy shown on the booking page. Free cancellation terms, if applicable, will be stated there along with the cut-off window.
Do I need to print my ticket?
Mobile tickets are accepted — simply show your confirmation on your phone at the meeting point.
Free cancellation.Free cancellation is available if you cancel at least 24 hours before the tour's start time. Cancellations made after that point are non-refundable.
