Frequently asked questions
Can I use a screenshot or printed copy of the QR code?
No. The gate scanners require a live, dynamic QR code displayed in your smartphone browser. Screenshots and printed copies will not work — you must open the WEST QR User Site on your phone at the station.
Do I need to reserve a seat, or can I just board?
Seat reservation is optional but recommended, especially at busy times. You can reserve a specific seat via the WEST QR User Site from up to 30 days before your travel date.
Is this ticket valid for Japanese citizens?
No. This pass is available exclusively to non-Japanese passport holders (international travellers). You may be asked to show your passport at the gate.
My child is under 6 — do I need to buy them a ticket?
Children under 6 travel free. Each paying adult can bring up to two children under 6 at no charge. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a paying adult throughout the journey.
What if my flight is delayed and I miss my booked train?
The Haruka runs more than 30 times daily in each direction, so you can board the next available service. Check the cancellation policy at the time of booking for any date-change options.
Which stations does the Haruka stop at between KIX and Kyoto?
The Haruka calls at Kansai Airport, Hineno, Tennoji, Shin-Osaka, and Kyoto, with some services extending to Nara or Kobe. Choose the ticket option matching your destination when you book.
