Frequently asked questions
Who is eligible to use this pass?
The pass is available exclusively to non-Japanese citizens. You must present a valid passport when collecting your ticket — Japanese nationals cannot use this pass.
Can I use this pass on the Shinkansen bullet train?
No. The Hokuriku, Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines are not covered. The pass is valid on JR local and limited express services within the designated Kansai and Hokuriku area only.
Do I need to book reserved seats separately?
Reserved seats are included in the pass at no extra cost. Before boarding, use the green ticket-vending machines at the station to collect a physical reserved-seat ticket for your chosen service.
Can I travel on the IR Ishikawa Railway or Ainokaze Toyama Railway?
General travel on these two railways is not covered. However, as a special exception, you may use the Himi, Johana or Nanao lines provided you do not alight at any IR Ishikawa Railway stop between Kanazawa and Tsubata, or any Ainokaze Toyama Railway stop between Takaoka and Toyama. Limited express trains on IR Ishikawa Railway between Kanazawa and Tsubata are permitted.
Is my child's travel included in the price?
Children under 5 travel free of charge. Each paying adult may bring up to two children under 5 at no extra cost.
Do I need to print my ticket?
No. A mobile voucher is accepted for collection. Bring your booking confirmation on your phone along with your passport and exchange it for the physical pass at the collection point.
