About this experience
Experience a one-hour hot air balloon flight over the Yarra Valley, Victoria's renowned wine region just a 50-minute drive from Melbourne's CBD. Enjoy breathtaking sunrise and bird’s-eye views of more than 80 vineyards spread across the region, along with grapevines and the winding Yarra River. Start your day with the warmth of the balloon's flames as it inflates and the thrill of watching the sun rise over mountains and vineyards, with the chance to spot some kangaroos along the way.
Why you'll love it
Aerial views you'll actually keep
Digital photos of your flight are included in every ticket, so you can relive the sunrise without fumbling for your phone at altitude.
Eighty-plus vineyards from a bird's-eye view
The Yarra Valley's patchwork of vines, river bends and forested ridges unfolds beneath you in a way no road trip can replicate.
The spectacle starts before you leave the ground
Watching the balloon inflate in the cool morning air — lit by the burner's glow — is its own moment worth waking up for.
Wildlife sightings on the way up
Kangaroos are often spotted in the paddocks below as the balloon climbs, adding an unmistakably Australian touch to the experience.
Three ways to tailor your morning
Choose a flight-only ticket, add a buffet breakfast at the estate, or bundle in a round-trip transfer from Melbourne — whatever suits your trip.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if the weather is bad on my flight day?
Hot air ballooning is weather-dependent. Check the Global Ballooning Australia app by 6:00 PM the evening before your flight — it will show the latest forecast and your confirmed meeting time. If conditions are unsuitable, your flight will be rescheduled.
Do I need to print my ticket?
No. Your mobile ticket is accepted at the meeting point, so a screenshot or the booking confirmation on your phone is all you need.
Can children join the flight?
Children aged 6 and over may participate. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult, and 16–18 year olds flying without an adult will need documented guardian consent.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes — the maximum weight per person is 199 kg. This is a safety requirement set by the operator.
How many people share the basket?
Each basket holds 10–12 passengers, so it's a small-group experience rather than a private charter.
Is this experience accessible for wheelchair users?
Unfortunately not. Boarding the balloon basket requires a degree of mobility, and the activity is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Free cancellation
Cancel up to 24 hours before your flight for a full refund. Weather-related rescheduling is handled by the operator and does not count as a cancellation.
