What happens if the Aso Volcano crater is closed on the day?
If the crater is under safety restrictions, the itinerary switches to Daikanbo, a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Aso caldera. You'll still get a striking view of the volcanic landscape.
Is the hot spring (onsen) entry included in the price?
No — the onsen bathing fee is paid separately on the day. Budget a small amount of cash for this.
I have a tattoo. Can I still use the hot springs?
Most communal onsen facilities in Japan do not admit guests with tattoos. You can opt to use a private family bath (kashikiri onsen) at Kurokawa at your own expense — the guide can assist with arrangements.
